Universal Love Begins with Self Love

Humanity is woven with individual experiences that come together in a beautiful tapestry.  We can contribute to the universe in a magical way when we embrace our uniqueness and live life from a place of love. The season of love is a great time to fall in love with yourself and all that you are.

The first step toward understanding and loving who we are is to examine and accept our identity. Once we do that, we can begin celebrating and exploring who we are in depth. When we choose to embrace all of who we are – we give love to the broken parts, honor the pain, and realize that every experience has contributed to making us who we are.

Embracing our true selves is not an easy practice. It’s choosing yourself each and every day – no matter how hard it gets.

Self-love anchored in acceptance ensures we are aligned and that we are doing our best to serve the universe. Bringing our most pure self to all that we put out in the world should always be our intention. With a heart-centered approach, we can silently surrender and say, "I love me, all of me” and continue to spread love and kindness throughout the universe.

On my yuckiest days I go to my journal and try my best to pour love into myself. The act of writing myself a love letter is my favorite practice. Even on my worst days, this practice reminds me that I am deserving of love and tenderness. Try writing a letter to yourself using the format below.

Dear {{INSERT NAME}},

Do you know how amazing you are? I admire (your strengths). Your lovely (physical attribute) makes you a delight. Despite (a part of you that still hurts), I love you. On your best days you are (insert a mental attribute) on your harder days you are (compliment yourself). I love the way you are committed to improving (an area you are working on). Even on your worst days, I love you.
