Another Journey Around the Sun

The journey into self-love and self-acceptance must begin with self-examination. Until you take the journey of self-reflection, it is almost impossible to grow or learn in life." – Iyanla Vanzant

Life is fleeting. Each and every day is an invitation to do our best for ourselves and others. Have you accepted the invitation? As my birth month comes to a close, here’s an invitation for you to reflect with me as I embark on another trip around the sun.

Every year on my birthday I graciously accept the invitation to go into deep reflection. Over the last two decades, I’ve returned to the same question: “How did I show up this year”.

When I started this practice two decades ago, I realized that I wasn’t showing up as my best self. It was humbling, to say the least. As time progressed, I noticed that my ego was showing up in ways that I wasn’t consciously aware of. After fumbling through years of this practice, I decided to commit to working on one simple polarity, trust vs control.

If I am honest, the journey was not an easy one. It took me over a decade to get comfortable with the idea of letting go and allowing what is to be, be. It became apparent to me that I was standing in my own way. I was unknowingly allowing other people’s projections to bring my ego to the surface. I was living life on the surface. Yes I was “happy”, having fun, and successful in the eyes of many but I wasn’t fulfilled. I was extremely disconnected from the truth of who I am and passed up the magnitude of what the world could offer.

Every time I chose to interact with my life in this new way, I felt lighter. I unlocked a new level of consciousness and with that a new juicy level of freedom.

Today, I still hold this beautiful truth. There are moments when I get off track but anchor back into the truth that the universe will support me. These days accepting what it reminds me that I am limitless too. I’m dreaming bigger; and allowing the world to delight me in its perfect timing.

When we believe in the power of the universe to work together for our good, we open a portal into trust that enables us to become the truest version of ourselves. We are able to see our boundlessness in its pure beauty.

So I ask you. Are you trusting? Or are you secretly desiring to control the outcome so that you are comfortable? Take some time to examine yourself and how you are choosing to interact with the world.

Life without reflection is a life left unexplored.

It is a precious gift to know you are limitless, to know that love is more powerful than control.  The invitation is there for us to accept with an open heart.

What’s On My Heart:

  1. Becoming Supernatural by Dr. Joe Dispenza. The chapter on Heart Intelligence is my favorite. “The flow of awareness and insight that we experience once the mind and emotions are brought into balance and coherence through a self-initiated process. This form of intelligence is experienced as direct, intuitive knowing that manifests in thought and emotions that are beneficial to ourselves and others”.

  2. Power vs. Force by Dr. David R. Hawkins.“ Although the intellect is easily fooled, the heart recognizes the truth. Where the intellect is limited, the heart is unlimited”. This book is the perfect partner on your journey to deeper awareness.

Thank you for exploring with me another year.

With Heart,
