Reflecting on a Beautifully Bumpy Journey

I find myself on planes quite frequently, soaring through the skies and often pondering the similarities between flying and life. Our journey through life mirrors that of a flight: it commences with a plan, offering breathtaking views from above, encounters unexpected turbulence, and then settles in with moments akin to watching a movie. Much like a plane ride, 2023 took us through its share of wonders, bumps, and unexpected turns. It proved to be a year of evolution, shaping us through experiences that pushed us beyond our comfort zones. For me, it was a year of embracing discomfort to soar to new heights.

Reflecting back, I recall a "discovery flight" I took a year ago in pursuit of obtaining my pilot's license. Up in a small Cessna with the pilot, I learned about navigation, interpreting instruments, following signals, and navigating through turbulence toward a safe landing. It was quite the adventure! Similarly, Mission and Movement navigated through new opportunities and challenges this year, anchoring ourselves in our core values and fostering community expansion. 2023 brought cherished memories and tough lessons that reshaped our perspectives, highlighting the significance of staying true to our values guiding us through this journey.

In many ways, a flight liberates us, breaking barriers and granting us the courage to navigate uncertainty with hearts grounded in love. Each experience in 2023 prepared us for the horizon ahead, even if we didn't realize it in the moment. This is one of the many reasons why I appreciate routine reflections.

As the plane reaches a stable cruising altitude, we stand on the verge of 2024—a year brimming with promises and possibilities. Let's welcome it with open hearts and minds. What does it have in store for us? What limitations will it lift? As we coast, let's relish this moment to reflect, grow, and eagerly anticipate the wonders ahead.
