Letting Life Inspire You

When you're happy, how do you feel? When you are overjoyed, do the sides of your lips turn up into smirk? Do you feel warm in your heart?  Does your breath slow or speed up? In the flurry of life, we tend to live in the past or the future. Do you find it easy to move on from your emotions? Do you tend to dwell on yesterday's events or tomorrow's possibilities?  What do you do to honor the place where you are? When was the last time you sat down and enjoyed where you were in that moment, to simply โ€œbeโ€?

Since my time in Nepal, living with Buddhist families and working with monks has fascinated me. Witnessing the impact of intention in the moment on all aspects of one's life. Moving away from "what ifs," slowing down, and showing up, grounded in the present.   Being fully present has added a whole new dimension to my life, whether I am playing with Porter (my little love bug), attending a business meeting, or working on our 501c3 projects.  Being present has given me a broader perspective on life.  It is one of the greatest gifts in life to be able to feel the joy of life. That is not to say there aren't bad times or that life is always happy, but honoring the moment allows the energy to guide you.

With the world and our environment highly charged with events taking place and uncertainty looming, take a moment to consider how present you are in your daily life.  During your day, how often do you take a moment to check in and see how you are doing? When was the last time you looked around, closed your eyes, and took a deep breath, and came back to center?

How about we take that moment now, together? Close your eyes and take a deep breath in.  Hold it for 3 seconds, then slowly open your eyes as you exhale.  Think about the beauty of your surroundings as you sit with your eyes open, are you able to hear the sounds of nature that were silenced by your flurry? How does your heart center feel?

What do you see around you?

What colors speak to you in your surroundings?

What sensations do you feel on your skin?

It is liberating to live in the present.  Every aspect of life and every encounter is clarified by it.  The inspiration comes from the expansion of what you can accomplish and experience when you show up fully.  Suddenly, opportunities and possibilities start to open up all around you; it becomes effortless. It is a key that unlocks the gift of life the universe offers.
